The Canalathon celebrates over 200 years of one of the most scenic canal routes in Britain. This 35 mile team challenge will take you on an historic journey following the lovely wooded Usk Valley right into the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park finishing in the historic town of Brecon itself.
Teams of four are invited to complete the 35 mile canal event in less than twelve hours:
The Canalathon is not a race but a challenge! The Canalathon is very much a team event and as such the team is required to stay together for the entirety of the event. The Canalathon is designed to be very much an inclusive event and we will do our best to accommodate so if you have any particular needs then please get in touch and we will do our best to facilitate. The Canalathon consists of three stages each of a different discipline in the order below:
• 6 Mile Canoe Section (Open Canadian style boats 2 boats per team)
• 22 Mile Cycle Section (99% traffic free along the Canal)
• 7 Mile Run/Walk/Crawl (Again 99% traffic free along the Canal)
*This cost includes 2 Canadian Canoes, Canoe Helmets, Paddles, Buoyancy Aids, Timing Chips, Finishers Medal and Buff
Competitors under 18 years of age may take part with parent / guardian permission.
Competitors over 12 and under 16 years of age must be accompanied by one adult per minor.
Due to the linear nature of this event there are a number of considerations that you will need to be aware of before entering. Please, please read 'Event Info' and the other sections under the tabs at the top of the page before entering to avoid (additional?!) stress the night before or on the day of the event!
